Mini Homestead Happenings for 2/22/2009

Posted by Shannon L. Buck on February 22, 2009

Hey, everyone. How is it going? I am busily organizing my home and trying to launch a freelance writing career, as well as babysitting whenever I can. My living room/office area is looking a lot better, and I am simplifying by getting rid of a lot of things that we don’t really need.

It was a cold 7* while I was on my daily walk this morning. It has been in the 20’s and 30′ lately, and will be again later. We are supposed to be getting yet more snow today.

One of our cats, Tigerr, had something wrong with his head near his ears. Cat acne or something, I suppose. I had Zowie wash him there twice a day with soap and then rinse well, and it has cleared up.

I am unclear if the problem was due to an allergy or not. We got rid of the plastic bowls because, apparently, the plastic can cause problems. Now we are using metal bowls. We switched back to the cat food we had been using originally, just in case. And we stopped using the new dishwasher detergent, just in case.

All seems to be well with him now.

Hope you are all having a good winter.

So, here is who a link to a homestead writer from whom I draw inspiration:
He is a prolific writer that you will actually recognize and he does it all from I believe… 2 1/2 acres…I think

Good luck on your adventures, Shannon.

Awwwl, I have a cat too, Fiesty. I hope your cat is doing well.

    • Thank you for your concern. Tigerr is doing so much better now. The ‘acne’ is all gone and he isn’t scratching the area so much any more. But now he has grey stripes on the skin of that same area that weren’t there before. I have no idea what that could be.
